The Union Ministry of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology has launched a contest “Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge” as part of the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Launched by honorable Union Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday (August 18) to realize the ambition of self-reliance and a momentous stride towards “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
The registration process for Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge begins on 18th August 2020 and will close on 15th September 2020.
According to the official statement from the ministry: “This initiative is aimed at not only meeting India’s future requirements of strategic and industrial sectors, but also has the potential to mitigate the issues of security, licensing, technology obsolescence, and most crucially cutting dependency on imports.”
The “Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge” is part of the series of proactive, preemptive, and graded measures taken by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology MeitY to spur the technology led innovation ecosystem in the country and staying at the forefront of digital adoption. the statement said.
The Challenge spread over 10 months. Under the Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge the top 10 teams, winning the finale, will get the seed fund of total Rs 2.30 Crore and 12 months incubation support.
Also, 100 shortlisted Semi-finalists will win a grant of a total of 1 Crore, while 25 finalists will win 1 Crore of award. The Challenge is open to students at all levels and startups. Participants will get an opportunity to translate their innovations around Swadeshi Processors, showcase them at a higher viewership and facilitate their ideas onto the marketplace.
